Nicki Allan has an impressive career portfolio that combines teaching, songwriting, session work and performing, which has taken her all over the world as a professional jazz vocalist and pianist. Credits include Glastonbury, the 02 Academy,  A recording deal with 33Jazz records, BV Session contracts for  Sony and countless live performances at UK jazz festivals and prestigious venues. Also winner of the coveted title of jazz Yorkshire vocalist of the year in 2011 for her contribution to women in Jazz Music. 

Nicki’s influences span pianists and vocalists alike, from the subtle and beautiful dulcet tones of Shirley Horn, Lizz Wright, Ella Fitzgerald and Joni Mitchell to the vibrant, rhythmic latin, swing and Contemporary sounds influenced and inspired by Thelonious Monk, Oscar Peterson and  Herbie Hancock. Underpinned by her stylish bluesy phrasing and love of vocal improvisation, which is becoming her trademark. 

Nicki’s ability to interpret Jazz Classics effortlessly and stylishly has made her a well-respected Jazz singer over the years,  amassing 7 studio albums and a live CD and a Distribution deal with 33Jazz records.  She is an accomplished Pianist, vocalist, recording artist and Session Singer/Musician, Vocal Tutor and Educator, Choir leader and Church Organist.

Nicki is a well known Music Educator, teaching at the Royal Northern College of Music  BMus (Hons) under graduate degree programme and the University of Hull Music degree programme up to Masters level. A Leeds College of Music Alumni and an ambassador for young musicians, encouraging students to believe in themselves, grow confidence, work hard and find their own unique voice through the pursuit of their own musical journey.
